  • The continuing political impasse would not deter the government's performance, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday.

Speaking about the political situation at a seminar organised by the Thammasat Economics Association at Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, Mr Abhisit said the political rift would likely prolong to next year.

The red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) announced that it will stage anti-government rallies from Nov 29 to Dec 3, while the yellow-shirt People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) also planned to organise mass demonstrations at about the same time.

The political rift would not make the government lose its focus in working and solving economic problems, he said.

"The government will listen to the demands from all sides, and it will not interfere with the justice process in handling the conflicts," Mr Abhisit said.
