  • The Prime Minister has said that if the mother of the Thai engineer accused of committing espionage in Cambodia wants to change her son's attorney, she is able to do so.

The Foreign Minister has also pledged to continue giving the government's full assistance.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has said that if the mother of the Thai engineer detained in Cambodia wants to change her son's attorney, she is able to do so and also claimed that the government will continue to offer full assistance to the case.

Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya has pointed out that it is up to the family of the Thai engineer if they want to change the attorney.

Kasit has also claimed the change in attorney will not be a problem or a political issue to the government.

Meanwhile, the government will continue to offer support to the case with bail money, attorney's fees, traveling costs for Sivarak's mother, and Sivarak's medical fees.

Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia recently called for all Cambodian students studying in Thailand to return. Kasit has commented that the call is Hun Sen's personal opinion, and Thailand will not protest such remark in trying to maintain a relationship with Cambodia.

The Foreign Minister has also said that whatever brings happiness to Thai and Cambodian people, the Thai government is willing to oblige.

When asked about the political pressure that wants to expel him from the Cabinet, Kasit refused to make a comment but said that he is working 24 hours a day.
