  • PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, FEB 09, 2011-Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Wednesday that the UN Security Council next Monday will call for the Thai invasion on Cambodia territory at areas near 11th century Khmer Preah Vihear temple.

“We could not resume talks bilaterally anymore and we need the third party to be involved in Thai invasion over Cambodian soil,” He told the annual meeting of commerce ministry here.

“Cambodian and Thai Foreign Ministers, and Indonesian side, who is chairing the ASEAN will take part the meeting at the UN next monday,” He added.

“Cambodia- Thailand now is waging war, not armed clashes,” He stresses, noting Thailand is invading and has robbed Cambodian land. Thai troops destroyed some parts of the temple, which contains universal values. Cambodia already filed complaints to the UNESCO about the ruins and UNESCO experts will come soon about the damage of the temple.

“Cambodia will use the long term policy to fight against the Thai invasion because former King Norodom Sihanouk did the same against Thai invasion over the temple in 1954. Until 1959, the former king filed complaint to the international court of justice about Thai invasion on the temple,” he said, adding that Thai PM Abhisit and Thai troops should not be afraid about the international engagement.

He also appealed The UN to help deploy forces at the areas near the temple. Thailand inked agreement with Cambodia by using hands but it omitted the agreement with its feet,” he stresses.

Trade and culture, education cooperation with Thailand will continue talks as usual, he noted.

Thai troops invaded Cambodia on July 15, 2008 at areas near the temple after Cambodia successfully enlisted the temple as world heritage site on July 7, 2008. The 4.6 square kilometers is Cambodian soil, Thailand’s claim about the land is using unilateral map, he explained.

PM Hun Sen also ordered Thai PM abhisit to destroy the yellow shirt movement which has cursed Cambodians and demanded the temple. If PM Abhisit does not break out the yellow group, it means that the movement is his “puppet”.
